By Venuste Alexandre Nshimiymana — A group of women entrepreneurs from around the world have launched a digital platform, FreedomeE.com, in London to support collaborative and circular economy. The high point was the official ceremony held in the UK House of Lords. Politicians, philanthropists, business owners, and activists came together to support Francesca Giobbi, Bruna Leo, and Mercy Gilbert, the trio who crafted the FreedomeE.com platform designed to unite people around the globe and help them rebuild in this post-pandemic era.
“Every time a commercial transaction is done, 3% of FreedomeE shares will go to charities that help women to be financially free,” Francesca Giobbi told a packed room in the British Parliament.
Francesca, the Brazil ambassador for Hera, an organization that promotes gender equality and education for all, travelled the world for 7 years, researching the working conditions of the labour force. As a designer, she discovered that she was financing factories that were transforming human beings into slaves.
“I created FreedomeE for them, and for small businesses. I want to give them the power to make money, to make savings, and to improve their lives through a platform that can reach a global market”, Francesca told TheAfricanGazette.com.
Together with her UK counterpart, Ambassador for Hera, Mercy Gilbert, they chose the House of Parliament, where decision-makers pass laws and policy for the official launch: “UK is a strong power and after Brexit, Britain is trying to establish strong trade ties with
Africa and other countries. So why not bring the world to the UK – both physically and virtually, putting Britain back on the map and showing we are open and ready to do business with the world at large?” said Mercy Gilbert, Chairman of Pettis Wood & Knoll Conservative association and Local Authority Governor
“Circular economy is very much needed to re-stimulate the economy that has taken a big blow and has been bleeding because of Covid-19 with over 400,000 companies closed in the UK,” added the Zimbabwean -born British entrepreneur, director of Alert Africa.
Amongst the other priorities for FreedomeE.com include working with partners who offer E-learning education.
Chantal Ndikumana, Burundi-born British Maths teacher and Managing Director of Shure e-learning said that “together with FreedomeE, we will continue to create opportunities for excellent employment in the global market, allowing many students who dropped out of school to study a full program of education at their own pace and in their own time”.
“With FreedomeE.com, we hope to reach more communities all over the world,” added the Chair of Burundi Education Foundation, a UK registered NGO supporting the children in Burundi for better education.
Hundreds attended the collaborative Circular economy event online, but the 31-year old Burundian entrepreneur Irvine Floréale Murame, Founder & CEO of INFINITY GROUP – Burundi attended the event in London. She is confident that her multi-million small business, where 70 percent of the staff are women, will benefit from the digital circular commerce platform, FreedomeE.com.
“Participating in the 2021 FreedomeE event, connecting and engaging with Business Leaders from around the globe gave me new perspectives to better understand INFINITY GROUP as part of global solutions providers for a greater Collaborative Circular Economy”, Mrs. Murame told TheAfricanGazette.com
“A Bank for Women, a bank of Freedom”
The founders of FreedomeE.com plan to open a Bank for Women that would give them access to banking facilities. Sir Richard Heygate, a businessman and philanthropist who’s been working in Zimbabwe and plans to invest in several other countries in Southern and East Africa told the audience that the African Diaspora should get together and set up a bank; – under their control, they would channel the 15 billion dollars they send to Africa each year, avoiding the institutions that slice the amount with heavy and unnecessary taxes.
FreedomeE.com received the backing of prominent Bestselling Author and Business Strategist Bernie Davies who received an ever warm and standing ovation for her speech:
“FreedomeE.com has been launched for such a time as this! In this post-pandemic economy, collaborative and circular commerce is imperative. FreedomeE has joined the
global thought leaders who have grasped this truth. I have the privilege of supporting the Welsh Government, local government, most of the major national banks and Universities across Wales and beyond, who have not only embraced entrepreneurship but also, more particularly, the power of the circular economy. There is a definite groundswell and Francesca is a woman ahead of her time, who will undoubtedly take FreedomeE’s global impact to stratospheric heights in the ensuing years.”
During the event, Mrs. Francesca Giobbi, was granted the maximum recognition of Jethro International Martin Luther King Award, for the relevant services provided in humanitarian causes. One of Jethro International’s attributions is to identify relevant leaders in society with participatory practices in social actions. According to Bruno Costa, Director of Jethro International, “the work developed by Ms. Francesca Giobbi has a high degree of social responsibility, as it directs resources to various philanthropic entities”.
