The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, met with former Djiboutian Ambassador to Japan and France, Mr. Rachad Ahmed Saleh Farah, on February 29, 2024. Farah serves as the president of the Association of Former Ambassadors of the Republic of Djibouti, known as the 3A.
This association, established in 2022 under Article 5 of the modified Law of July 1, 1901, concerning association contracts, is the brainchild of Mr. Rachad Ahmed Saleh Farah, alongside several distinguished individuals including Mr. Dileira Mohamed Dileita, Mr. Abdi Ibrahim Absieh, Mr. Osman Darar, Mr. Ahmed Areita, and Mr. Idriss Ahmed Chirwa.
Being the first of its kind in Djibouti, the association operates as a non-profit entity. Its primary objectives include advocating for and upholding the goals, principles, values, and ethics of Djibouti’s foreign policy. Furthermore, it aims to conduct thorough analyses of Djibouti’s cultural, scientific, economic, technical, commercial, and diplomatic missions worldwide, with a commitment to sharing insights derived from these deliberations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
During the meeting, Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf voiced his support for the association’s endeavors, emphasizing his department’s commitment to aiding the association in fulfilling its objectives. This collaboration underscores the importance of leveraging the expertise and experiences of former diplomats to advance Djibouti’s interests on the global stage.
In addition to facilitating discussions, the association plans to organize various activities such as meetings, conferences, visits, and trips, aimed at enhancing awareness of its actions and orientations within Djibouti and beyond.
